Happy 2012!!!

Okay, spill it...who's feeling like this little guy this morning?!?!  Sorry...he's just my favorite little new year's guy...complete with his birdie slippers!!

I'll skip the flowery mushy stuff (although it's all very sweet) and just say HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  I wish you all a year of crafting, prosperity, and very few hangovers!

Love, Amy E.

Oh, PS...we'll return to our regularly scheduled program (of calendar stuff) tomorrow!!!  Now, go back to bed!

...And More Calendar (Part 3)

Hi again!  Here we go...

Both pages are pretty similar for May.  Son's and Daughter-In-Law's page is above and Daughter's is below.

I felt pretty proud of myself for thinking up the Earth Day theme for the May pages...well, that is, until I was putting the finishing touches on the calendars by adding the holidays, and I noticed that Earth Day was in April for 2012.  WHAT?!?!?!  I thought Earth Day was ALWAYS in May???  I guess not.  Oh well, I was committed to the May pages at that point!  The adorable smiling earth cut is from Phrases.

Son's and DIL's June page (above) is very similar to Daughter's page (below) with a few color and size variations.

The exposure on these photos wasn't all that great.  I really wish they had turned out better because the Gnomes were so adorable!  And I loved the the title...Just hanging With My Gnomies!  Haha!  The gnomes and mushrooms were cut using the Freshly Picked cartridge and the butterflies were cut from the Wall Decor and More cartridge.
See ya back for more tomorrow.  Same Bat time...same Bat channel!

More Calendar (Part 2)

Back for more?  SWEET!!  I told you guys I would be posting like crazy after Christmas presents were handed out!  Three days in a row now...WOW!  So hold on we go!

Son and Daughter-In-Law's March page had to include beer since they are both connoisseurs.   I really wish I had been able to find a beer mug and put green beer in it, but I couldn't find a cut I liked on the cartridges I have.  The beer can was cut from the Father's Day cartridge (it's a single can that I cut six times and glued together to make a six-pack) and the title is from Phrases  (love that cartridge!)

Daughter's March page is a little more traditional with a glittery pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  The rainbow was from the Groovy Times cartridge and the pot of gold was from Paper Doll Dress up.

Both of the April pages look like the Easter Bunny threw up all over them (...okay, that may have been a LITTLE graphic!) ...lots of pastels!

More birds for DIL!  The title is from Phrases and the border at the top is from Straight From the Nest.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the photo mats.

Daughter's April page got the Easter Bunny treatment complete with decorated eggs at the top!  The photo mats were also cut with MS punches

BTW, the week before Christmas, I was at TJ Maxx, and they had several different kinds of Martha Stewart punches.  Their Punch-Around-the-Page sets were priced at $4.99!!!!!!  That's a far cry from the $30 plus that Joann's and Michael's usually has them priced at!  Who knows if there's anything left since the after Christmas rush, but it might be worth a peek if you have a TJ's nearby!
Until tomorrow...

Okay, Calendar Time!

Here's the first pics in the series of posts about the calendars I made for my kids (and I use the word "kids" lightly...they're grown!)  Basically, I made 12 scrapbook pages, one for each month, and then 12 "month" pages, complete with cutouts from the Designer's Calendar cartridge, for birthdays and holidays.  I used an ATG gun and LOTS of ATG tape to hold the pages together.  I taped the January "month" page to the February scrapbook page, and so on, for each month.  Then I used a Cinch version 2 to bind everything together.  Above, is a pic of the whole calendar hanging in my daughter's office.  Below, are a few of the scrap pages I made for both the calendars.

Here's the January scrap page I made for son and DIL.  You'll notice some of the pages for the same months differ since son and daughter-in-law have more classic tastes (and loves birds, argyle, and paisley!) and daughter likes bright colors and lots of bling and glitter.  The cuts here were from Winter Frolic, Winter Lace, and Elegant Edges.

February's pages weren't anything spectacular...I was starting to run short on time!

This is Son and DIL's page.  I used the Miss Morgan line of paper from Quick Quotes, along with some cardstock from my stash.  DIL loves birds, so I tried to incorporate as many as possible!  I actually took this pic before the page was finished...later, I added some brads to keep the mats in place and a grommet and ribbon to pull out the journaling tag that's in the back of the pic mats.

Daughter loves pinks and purples, along with hearts and mushy stuff (haha!) so this page was for her.  I used cuts from the Sweethearts cartridge

Okay, enough for now...I don't want to burn you guys out right away!  More tomorrow!

PS...I'm entering my project in Jovan's New Year's Challenge!  Thanks Jovan!

Crafting With Natasha's First Blogaversary Blog Hop

Welcome to the celebration. If you've arrived here from Natasha's Blog, then you are in the right place. If you just happened upon this post, please start back at Natasha's blog, over at Crafting with Natasha to join in. Each stop along the way has a "secret word" that you will need for a chance to win the prize. After you've hopped to each stop, you will need to email Natasha ( with the answer to the "secret phrase". You have until 11:59PM EST on January 6th to enter to win. Winner will be announced on January 7th.

What are you hoping to win?
A Smash Book and accessories!!

So, our theme for this blog hop is NEW.  I chose to depict the new year and the new month that's just around the corner.  I made calendars for both of my kids for Christmas this year.  My blog postings have been sparse, because I didn't want to show pics of what I had been working on before the kids opened their gifts. (I call them "kids" but they're 25 and 30 and they sometimes read my blog!)   So now, if you're interested, stop back my my blog for the new few days (or weeks!) and I'll post the pics a few at a time.

Here's the page I did on my daughters calendar for January 2012:

I used three different Cricut cartridges.

I used the snowman (minus the pipe) from Winter Frolic.  I think he came out super cute with his Peachy Keen eyes!

I also used the Phrase from the same page.

Of course the adorable little girl (made to resemble my daughter on her first snowboarding fiasco...I mean, trip) is from Everyday Paper Dolls.  The snowflakes were cut from Winter Lace, with lots of Stickles and bling thrown in for good measure!

I hope you liked the beginning of my project!  I'll explain more in future posts about the calendar and how it was made.

So now....the magic word you're looking for on this hop stop is "YOUR"  Have fun!

The next stop on our hop is the talented and adorable Miss Amanda.  Here's your entire lineup in case you get misplaced (you're in blogland so you can never get lost, right?!?!)

Thanks for stopping by and have a FABULOUS 2012!!!!!

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

Quick Note:

I'm supposed to be participating in Natasha's blog hop tomorrow morning and fully intend to. Mother Nature may not agree though. We have massive winds and rain right now, and the power is flickering! We live in the woods, so wind usually means a power outage, and thus, no internet. I wanted you guys to know just in case you hop here and see nothing :( Otherwise, see ya in the hop tomorrow morning!!

I just got an email from Glue Arts  telling me about an awesome holiday sale they're having going til January 1st.  Most of their stuff is on sale for 50% off plus FREE shipping!!!

I won an assortment of adhesives and an assortment of vinyl from them a while back, and am absolutely in love with their products now.  I've had really great results with everything I've tried from them.  (Wow...I sound like a commercial!  But this isn't one...I just love their stuff and they're having a great sale!!)

On another note....sorry for the crickets chirping around the blog lately.  I'm in my last minute push to get some presents made in time for Christmas.  Two projects (that I've been working on for over two months now!) have taken MUCH longer to finish than I anticipated.  Plus, since they're Christmas gifts, I don't want to post pics of them yet for fear of their recipients seeing them early!  On the positive side, I'm going to have TONS of stuff to show you guys after Christmas!!!!

New Enabler Alert!

Oh no!!  Another new place to buy supplies CHEAP?  My poor wallet!   I found Blitsy on a friend's blog, and I'm hooked...yikes!  Blitsy is a new online store that concentrates (for now) on scrapbooking supplies.  Each sale item is only offered for 7 days, and they have new sales items every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  I just ordered a rainbow of Stickles (I only had a few colors) for only $1.49 a bottle!  Even when you figure in shipping, it's still cheaper than I'm able to find anywhere else.

Right now, they also have some Tim Holtz product, (including his Christmas line of Distress Inks) a Scotch ATG gun for $19.99, Ranger Liquid Pearls for $1.69 a bottle, Punches, Page kits, and lots more!  Plus, right now, you can use the coupon code FACEBOOK on your first order and get an additional 10% off your entire order!  So that actually brought my Stickles down to $1.34 a bottle!

Another great perk, is that they offer store credit for referrals when a new member purchases for the first time!  So if you guys use my link when you sign up, then I will get a $10 store credit the first time you purchase.  Then you post on your blog with your own referral link, and the people who sign up with your link will earn YOU a $10 credit when they purchase!  How cool is that?  I'm not sure if that will be a forever thing, so I would do it now!

Here's where you sign up... Blitsy .  Let me know what great deals you find!!!!

To get an idea of how big he really was...that's a men's size 10 shoe laying right behind his head.  He was a HUGE kitty!  RIP Jack (or as my neighbor nicknamed him after seeing this pose, Captain Comfortable!)  Okay, enough sad stuff.

Today is the last day to enter for my 12x12 paper and Smashbook giveaway!  I've been so happy with all the entries and sweet comments so far!  And thanks so much to all of the new followers, and all of you that have advertised the giveaway on your own blogs or Facebook pages to help some of those new followers find me!!  You guys all ROCK!!!!!

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #128

WOOHOO!!!  #3 on the WOYWW link up!  YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Wednesday WOYWWers!!  Today finds my craft room FILTHY!  My poor desk didn't stand a chance this week!  I've been house/dog sitting for my neighbors for the past week (the ones that built my beautiful craft room for me) so I've been back and forth between the two houses.  I've been spending a few hours each afternoon crafting, but I'm so rushed, I haven't been cleaning up after myself.  On top of that, I went to my first-ever scrapbook convention last Friday!  I have never seen so much scrappy goodness in one place...EVER!!!  My little artistic feelers were going crazy!!!  I came out of there with a TON of stuff!  Some of it is still scattered around on my desk.  I need to find places for a few things.  Now, Black Friday is coming up in a week and a half, and with all the good Joann's and Michael's deals that were leaked last week, I foresee having to find places for more stuff... *blush*

Also on my desk is a birthday card I'm working on for my sweet son's 30th birthday on Sunday.  Ugh...I'm old!  He lives in another part of the country, so I won't get to see him that day, but I know his awesome wife will make sure it's great!  I really miss them.

So, happy Wednesday!  Let's make it an awesome one!!

I'm also working on a secret project!!  Secret, because it's a Christmas gift for my kids, and my DIL usually keeps up with my blog!  So it's there...right on my desk...can you see it?!?!  Haha!

Enabler Alert!

***Please click HERE to see my super awesome paper giveaway!***

Oh wow!  All week has been selling a lot of their Cricut cartridges for 2 for $29.95 when you use the coupon code spooky.  Well, I just noticed tonight that they're now offering FREE SHIPPING  (to the continental US) as well!!!  Holy Moly!!!!  At last look, they had 77 different cartridges to choose from at the special price.  So folks, that's a Cricut cartridges for $14.98 each with no shipping costs and no sales tax! (at least they didn't charge any for my state.)

I played around on their site a little and noticed if you try to buy more than two cartridges at a time, they will only give you the discount for the first two, but if you check out separately with two at a time (in case you want 4...or 6...or...) then the discount will work each time...and you don't have any shipping, so the amount will continue to be $29.95 per order!

I don't know how much longer this promotion is going to continue, so if you're interested, I would hurry if I were you!!

Oh and PS...I ordered something for the first time from them a few weeks ago, and was thoroughly pleased.  It only took a few days to get my order!  I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but thought you just might want to know that I had a good experience with them just in case you haven't ordered with them yet, and are interested in this deal.

Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday!

Well, here it is Wednesday again, and my desk isn't looking much better than last week!  I got some gift cards for my birthday so I went to Joann's and bought a few new things I had been wanting to experiment with!  I didn't have any alcohol inks or glimmer mists.  I saw a tutorial on my bloggy friend Kat's blog about how to make super cheap homemade glimmer mists, so I had to buy the stuff to give that a try...awesomesauce!!!!!!  I made a purple carnation (sitting on the desk) out of the glimmer mist and some coffee filters.  I felt like a kid in an arts and crafts class again!   Haha!

And what's that on my laptop screen???  Stamping Ground?!?!  Haha!  I was waiting for the WOYWW post to go up so I could be one of the first to link.  Well...THAT didn't work.  I went downstairs to watch tv, (it's still Tuesday night here) came back up several hours later, and there's lots of links in front of me now!  One of these days....!

Yay!!  Here's my first real giveaway!!  To say thanks to all my blog buddies, and hopefully meet some new ones, I present to you my Un-birthday, Un-blogaversary, Just For Fun and Because I Love You Guys Blog Candy!  Pictured are almost 300 sheets of 12 x 12 (YES 12 x 12!!) cardstock and paper, and 50 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 adhesive backed cardstock.  The 12 x 12's are a mixture of goodies from DCWV, Recollections, WeRMemory Keepers, Bo Bunny, and more.  There are glitters, flocked, and even 30 sheets of handmade botanical papers.  You can see the rose petals and leaves right in the paper.  Talk about texture!  There are two complete cardstock stacks, one paper stack and one page kit.  Everything else is a mixture of loose scrappy goodness.  I have a tiny bit of room left in the box, so I'll probably throw in a few other goodies just for fun!

So, here's the particulars...There will be ONE winner!  To be eligible to be that lucky person, you must:
1.  Be a follower.
2.  Post about this giveaway or leave a pic and link on your side bar and leave me a link letting me know where to come see you.
3.  Leave a comment on this post.
4.   Live in the U.S.

EDIT: For an additional entry, please write a short post on your blog, and leave me the link in an additional comment here!

I want you to know this last stipulation really pains me to say.  I've seen other people leave that same rule in their giveaways, and always hated it...but I checked with the US Post Office, and to mail the same box to Canada would cost me THREE times the same amount as mailing it here, and to Europe, it would cost FIVE times the amount.  I'm SO sorry :(

The giveaway will close on Wednesday November 30, 2011 and I will draw a winner the next day.  Good luck!!

My Guest Post Over at Scrappin Sista!

Hey Peeps!  I have a birthday weekend hangover!  Not a real hangover, since I didn't drink, but I had so much fun that I'm still in a bit of a haze!  I spent Friday (my actual birthday) hanging out in Seattle with my gorgeous daughter.  Friday night when we got back home I walked into a surprise party my cute hubby threw for me!!  Saturday, my daughter spent almost all day crafting with me!  Now this is a big deal since she's not much for paper crafting, but I helped her make a birthday card for her boyfriend, and we had a blast together.  Sunday, Hubby took me shopping (just to hang out with me and because I realized I forgot to renew my Driver's License by my birthday, he drove!   Haha!) so that I could spend some of the gift cards I got for my birthday.  I can't even tell you how much crafty goodness I am surrounded by now!  Lots of fun projects to come! I'm a guest designer over at Scrappin Sista to help her celebrate her birthday month.  Hmmm...I only took the weekend to celebrate, but she took the whole month.  She might just be onto something!!!  Make sure to come back later today, where I'll post pics and info on my first giveaway...let's just say, I REALLY hope you like paper!!!

My post at Scrappin Sista:

Hi gang!! Thanks so much for coming to see what I did for Christel's birthday month, and thanks to the wonderful birthday girl for hosting this awesome extravaganza!

So, a little about me? I'm one of those crazy extreme couponers you hear about. We pretty much get all of our groceries for free (or at least 95% - 98% off!) I also LOVE scrapbooking. I wanted to find a way to combine these two passions, so I've applied some of the skills I learned from couponing, to get my scrapbooking supplies super cheap or free! Some examples???

My first Cricut baby bug and lots of cartridges. Cost: FREE!

My Cricut E2. Cost: After combining a sweepstakes winning and a blog win, my out of pocket cost was FREE!

My brand new completely remodeled scrap room with custom built 14 foot long desk, and paper shelves. Cost: $22 plus a few weeks of house/dog sitting for my neighbors!

I love free!  So for those of you who are new around here, my blog is kind of a hybrid between my two loves, couponing and papercrafting.  I try to keep up on the latest great supply deals and give tips and trick on how to get supplies uber cheap or free!

Okay, enough of it's on to the card I made for Christel! I scrap-lifted a card I found on called an accordion card. I used my Gypsy and cuts from Elegant Edges. Plus, I incorporated some of Christel's favorite colors. You may wonder why the hearts are on a birthday card...well, lemme tell ya! The first post I ever read on Christel's blog, quite a long time ago, was ended with her catch-phrase, "I love you and there ain't nothing you can do about it!" I love the whole idea of that phrase! And, it made me smile. The more time I spent poking around her blog, the more I saw how she really exudes loving and caring in everything she does. So...HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONTH CHRISTEL! And thank you for all that you do!

A Great Surprise From A Great Store

I had an incredibly pleasant surprise last week that I thought I would share with you guys!  One of the blogs I frequent (and I'm sure most of you do too) is My Cricut Craft Room.  Blogger Erica, decided a while back to open an online store, Erica's Craft Room.  She sells lots of Cricut products and cartridges, as well as K. Andrew and Pink by Design stamps.

A few weeks ago, I ordered two Cricut cartridges from Erica's store.  It was my first (and so far, only) order with her.  She had an unbeatable price on two cartridges I had my eye on for sometime.  Prior to placing the order, I had won a small collection of Bo Bunny papers from her blog during a blog hop.  Several weeks after placing my order, I still hadn't received it or the papers.  I corresponded with Erica, she apologized saying that she had been waiting for more papers to come in, and that she would add a few extra papers because of the extra time I had waited.

Shortly after that, I received my two cartridges in the mail along with this!!

20 Bo Bunny papers
A VersaMark ink pad
A Cricut tool kit
A package of Cricut Black Vinyl
and A package of Cricut Transfer Tape

Um, WOW!!!!  I emailed her to thank her and she apologized for the hold up again and told me to enjoy it!  Now, I don't know about you guys, but to me, that is the epitome of outstanding customer service!!

I hope this post doesn't come off sounding like a commercial, and Erica doesn't even know I planned to write anything...heck, I don't even know Erica!  But I just wanted to let you guys know about somebody out there doing an awesome job!

Today is National Domestic Violence Awareness Day

Both of my kids make me an extraordinarily proud mommy every day.  My son has a career he's thriving at, and is married to a woman who is not only perfect for him and incredibly smart, she also did a super awesome job designing my blog page!! (Thank you Erin!)

Since today is National Domestic Violence Awareness Day, this post is actually going to talk about my daughter's somewhat unusual but uber rewarding job.  She works at a non-profit agency called the Abused Deaf Women's Advocacy Services (ADWAS.)  When ADWAS was first founded in 1986, it was the only agency of it's kind in the United States. They're also the first transitional housing building that was built with the technologies to cater to the needs of Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Emily has been with the agency for over four years and it's been the most difficult, stressful, amazing, rewarding career she could have ever possibly imagined.  (although her second job as a Zumba Instructor has turned out to be pretty awesome too!)

Recently, they had their annual fundraising auction.  I was super honored when she asked me to donate something scrapbook related for their auction!  I made a basket with all sorts of scrappy goodness and a few handmade cards and matching envelopes.  The basket was valued at $175.  I totally forgot to take pictures of it before it was all wrapped up or left the house, but I asked Emily to snap a few before it left her office and went off to the auction.  She used a crappy camera, so the quality isn't the greatest, but here's what it looked like all wrapped up...

Trust me, there was A LOT of stuff in there!!

If you're curious and would like more information about ADWAS, you can visit their website at .  If you or someone you know has questions about domestic violence, or needs emergency assistance, you can contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline 24 hours a day at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #124

Happy hump day everybody!!  The middle of the week is here...only a few days more til my birthday!  I'm excited!  I don't really know why...I'm gonna be OLD.  Not old, but OLD!  Oh well!

I've had some fun crafting and some fun shopping this week.  Here is the result of both...

Yikes!  Just two weeks ago it was a new and pristine craft room (see here if you missed it) and now it's well loved...and filthy!  Time to clean!!!

If you want to go peek at what everyone else's desks are looking like today, or link up your own, head on over to the lovely Miss Julia's site!   Happy Wednesday!

Fall Favorites Blog Hop

Welcome to My Cricut Craft Room's Fall Favorite's Blog Hop!  If you've arrived here from Christina's blog, you're on the right track.  If you just stopped by because you love me (haha!) you should really start at the beginning at My Cricut Craft Room.

I have tons of pics from Halloween many years ago when my kids were babies, so I made a double layout to eventually stick their pictures in.  I used the Cricut cartridge, Paper Doll Dress Up for all the cute little ghouls and spookies on the layout.  If you want any more partculars, you just have to ask!

Thanks for sticking with us til the (almost) end!  I have a little blog candy for one of my followers who leave a comment.  It will be your choice of a $10 Joann's or Michael's gift card.  Check back here on Wednesday October 19th, when I will draw a name.

Your next (and last) stop is to check out Erica's Blog Candy.  Thanks for hopping!!!!
