A Little Update

Hi gang!  I thought I should probably check in and let you know we're still alive!!  Hubby is still on the mend.  He's had a bit of a setback though.  Now his hernias are gone, but in it's place is a huge bloodclot...even bigger than the hernias were.  Like I've mentioned before, hubby doesn't do anything halfway!  The doctor has already seen it and we may be going back in the next day or two for her to see it again since it still seems to be growing.  There may be another surgery required.  Ugh... *face plant*

In happier news, I had a little bit of time to craft.  I made this card as a thank you to our daughter for helping us out the week of the surgery.  Now, since most of you don't know us personally, I have to explain....the people on the front of the card are me and hubby!  We're both in our pajamas and I'm wearing the hideous orange Crocs that daughter hates!  I drew our rings on, and made the hair as close to ours as I could find.   We even added hubby's hernia!  You can't really see it in the picture, but I added a little brad under the shirt to make it poke out!  Haha!  It was awesome!

The new craft room is coming right along.  There's still one more shelf for the embellishments and ribbon that is waiting to be built, and a few finishing touches, like trim and curtains for underneath the desk (so I can store stuff under there!)  I can't wait to show it all to you guys!!

And now, even though it has absolutely nothing to do with anything, I'll shall end this post with a pic hubby took the other morning of our cat sunbathing!  Oh, to be so relaxed!!

Hugs,
Amy E.

A Quickie Update and Future Blog Candy!

Hi Blog Buddies!  Before I get too deep into this post, I want to say HI and WELCOME to all of our new followers, and give a HUGE thank you to all of you!  Your response to the blog hop last weekend and your sweet comments made me feel so special!  I want you to know that when things settle down a little (see below) I plan on visiting each and every one of your blogs.  That's been the plan all along, but life got in the way just a little!

I wanted to let you in on a couple of things.  This Tuesday will be hubby's hernia surgery, (positive thoughts, prayers, light, good vibes, or whatever works for you, are all welcome for him on that day) so we've been trying like crazy to get some things done around here before he's out of commission for a while.  As you guys may have seen in my last post, the paper shelves in the craft room are up (!!!!!!!) and they have now been painted and filled.  THEY ARE AWESOME!  (There's a little sneak peek above!)  Our sweet, amazing, wonderful neighbor also moved everything back upstairs into the craft room, moved all of the old craft furniture into the garage, and got hubby's man cave back into order (even better than before) so that it will be ready for our daughter to sleep in while she's here helping with hubby after his surgery.  Hubby can't lift more that 20 pounds for now, so Mr. Awesome Neighbor moved all the heavy stuff (which was pretty much everything) by himself!  He was here for almost two solid days helping us get everything put back together.  You rarely see people as kind and giving and generous as he is.  I need to bake him a cake...or a whole fleet of cakes...or something with BACON!

So, the fun part of that long paragraph is that the craft room is almost put back together!  WOOT!  Everything is moved back in, and starting to find a home.  There will be shallow shelves for embellishments and ribbon built on top of the paper shelves soon, but for now all the embellishment jars are just sitting on top of the shelves. Oh and I can't even begin to tell you how nice all that desk space is!  As soon as everything is put away (today or tomorrow maybe) I'm going lock myself in the room and have a big craft fest in there! (that almost sounded naughty!)

As I'm going through all my crafty stuff, I'm finding things that I really don't use and/or things that would make some awesome blog candy!  So, once hubby's back to perfect and things have settled down here a little, I plan on putting it all in a pile, taking some enticing pics, and having a fun blog candy giveaway for our little blog buddy community we've built here!!

Stay tuned!

Amy E.

Blog Hopping!

There's LOTS of blog hops going on this weekend!  I'm getting a late start, but I want to try to get through a few more at least!

Here's some Thank You cards I made this weekend.  I'm linking them up at the MPS blog hop.  Woot!!

Kim's 100 Follower Challenge

Good evening gang!  Kim over at Kimberli's Creations is having a challenge/giveaway.  She was hoping to reach 100 followers, and she's blown that goal right out of the water!  So here's the deal...post a new project you have done using one of your neglected, barely ever used Cricut cartridges.  Link the post for your project back to her page, become one of her followers, and you're entered to win a Cricut Preserves cartridge!  Now that she's surpassed 100 followers, she's throwing in some extra goodies too...last I heard, there was a paper pack involved!  You probably all know that I need some more paper if you've seen this post!

Happy Scrapping!

We have paper shelves and a WINNER!!!!

First of all...100 followers?!?!?  WOW!!  That is an AWESOME number!  I was always so excited when I saw other bloggers hitting that number, and now, I'm in the 100 club too!  Woot!!  I think I feel a blog candy coming soon!!  But for now, on to other matters...

WOOHOO!!  I can't even tell you how excited I am!  The paper shelves are built and installed in the new craft room!!  If you have no idea what I'm talking about, but seem a little curious, go here to see the first post about our craft room re-do, and here to see the second post.

Here's a pic of them under construction the other day.  Look at all those grooves for the shelves!

And here they are hanging on the wall!  Of course, they still need paint and trim, but hey, this is a great start!!  You can't really tell in this pic, but they take up the whole wall that the craft room door is on!

To give you some perspective of how big these shelves really are...

That's my husband standing next to them!  And I am only able to get 4 of the 5 columns of shelving in this pic!  I have 75 glorious spots to put paper in...ahhhh.  After they're painted and trimmed, it's going to take a while to get all the paper in color order!!  But it's gonna ROCK when it's done!!!

Okay, and now on to other important things...  a winner from the Old School Cartridge Blog Hop last weekend!  I had 54 comments! (it says 55 but one comment was deleted and redone, so the deleted one didn't count)  So the official number that hubby drew out of the hat was number...

and comment #40 belongs to The Scrapbook Shop Around the Corner!!!  Yay Bella!  I'll be sending you an email shortly!  Thanks for being a follower and my first-ever blog candy winner!!!

And thanks to all of you for leaving such sweet and thoughtful comments.  I really understand now why you all value the comments you get so much.  We all love our craft, but it's very personal since it comes from inside us.  All those sweet comments are just positive validation of what we do, and make us love our craft that much more.  You guys Rock!

Hugs all around!

Welcome to the Old School Cartridge Blog Hop!

Happy Blog Hop Day!!!!!!!  If you've come from visiting Lindsey at cricutcrazy94, you're in the right place! If you just came to hang out with me for a while, and would like to play along with our fun hop, you can go to Inking It Up Crazy and start at the beginning. We're here to share a few projects and ideas with you using the older Cricut cartridges. So get ready for some super fun projects and some sweet giveaways along the way! After you have finished the hop, be sure to head on back to Inking It Up Crazy so you can create and link up a project of your own using one of your older cartridges. The older the better!!!

Make sure to check out each member's blog. There will be some AWESOME ideas...and maybe a little blog candy!!!!

So, here's the dealio...the cartridge I chose to work with is one of my favs...Walk In My Garden.  Here's the problem though.  I started out planning to make a card, then as I looked at all the cute things I wanted to cut and use, I decided it better become a layout instead.  Fine and dandy right?  NOT.  I finally had so much on the page, that there was no room left for pictures!  So without further adieu, I present to you my 12 x 12 photo-less wall art!!

All my little critters decided to have a party and hang out in the garden near the gazebo!  I hear there's margaritas in the little dandelion cups, but shhh...don't tell anyone!

I used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing folder for the wheelbarrow and the Divine Swirls folder for the grassy hills in the background.

I used a Sakura white Gelly Roll pen for my stitches and dots.

I inked most everything with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye...

except the clouds...they were inked with a Memories ink pad in blue.  The background cardstock is from the DCWV Glitter Stack.

Most of the other card stock was from the Paper Company.  There were a few bits and pieces from my stash...they were from various different DCWV cardstock stacks.

I REALLY wanted a Gazebo, but there's not one on the Walk in my Garden cartridge, so I decided to free hand one on lavender cardstock with Liquid Pearls.  I used a little swirling motion as I was drawing to give it some depth.  It's probably not ready to be shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but I'm happy with it for a first attempt!  I cheated a little and used the George and Basic Shapes cartridge for my title.  Don't worry...it's an old school cartridge too!

Now, if you're still with me, here's what you've been reading waiting for...the sweet stuff!

This is my first ever blog candy!  Please leave a comment with a way to get in touch with you.  I will draw the name of one of my lucky followers on Wednesday using the infamous and ever scientific hubby-draws-a-name-out-of-the-baseball-cap method.

The next stop on your hopping journey is Susan's blog.  I guarantee you won't be disappointed!!

Coupons and Blog Candy...What More Could A Girl Want?

Hi blog friends!  As promised, I went to check out this week's sales yesterday at Joann's  I didn't find anything too exciting.  There were a lot of people out in the blogosphere talking abut great clearance sales.  Lucky you!!  I couldn't find ANYTHING on clearance at my local Joann's. (*insert sad face here!*)

So this week, Joann's has the majority of their scrapbooking supplies on sale for 40% off.  If you combine that with the Michael's coupon that's valid this week, you should be able to get a good deal on some supplies.  A few things I found:

DCWV paper stacks are on sale for $9.99.  Combine that with the Michael's coupon and you can pick them up for $7.99 each.  That's usually my buy price!

50 count packages of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock are on sale for $2.49 (regularly $3.99.)  Combined with the Michael's coupon, you can get them for $1.99 each.  I've seen them cheaper, but this is a great price if you're running low.

I noticed  all of the Cricut supplies are 25% off.  This might be tricky with the coupon...here's why.  When Joann's has their own coupons out, their "fine print" states that the coupon can't be used for Cricut ELECTRONIC items or cartridges.  So you can still use the coupon for Cricut SUPPLIES, like mats and blades and tools.  The Michael's coupon specifically says that the coupon isn't good on "all Cricut products."  So Joann's may or may not honor your Michael's coupon for Cricut supplies.  If not, it's no biggie though.  You can do just as well (if not better) waiting for the Cricut supplies to go OFF sale, and then use one of Joann's 40% or 50% off coupons.  Most Joann's stores will even let you use multiple coupons for multiple items...they just have to ring each item and coupon up separately.  (In my experience, Michael's is WAY more strict about multiple coupons and normally won't let you use more than one.)

Okay...enough confusing stuff!!
If you've made it through all that and are still reading (whew!) don't forget about the Old School Blog Hop in a few days!  It's August 5th and 6th.  It's my first blog hop to participate in and I'm so excited!!  I picked one of my favorite old cartridges to do my project with!  Oh, and I do believe I'm going to be giving away my first ever blog candy!  Woohoo!!  So don't forget to check back this weekend!!
