Most of you that have spent any time here hanging out on my blog, know that I have incredible neighbors who built me the craft room of my dreams last summer.  For those of you not yet in the loop, you can read about it here.

SO a few weeks ago, I submitted pictures of my room for a contest being held on Facebook.  I forgot all about it, until I noticed this morning, that my room had been chosen as one of the top 10!!  The pics of the top 10 rooms are up and people will vote for the winning room.  Without even knowing it, I was in 3rd place!!!!!

If you want to go check the contest out, you can go HERE.  If you feel so inclined, I would love your vote!!  Once you're on CreateForLess's Facebook page, you can click on my picture, and click "like" to vote.  Then if you want to SHARE it, that would be FABULOUS too!!!!!

Eeeeeeek!!  I'm giddy and jumping up and down!!  I always knew my neighbors created a beautiful space for the rest of the world can see their work too!!

Tim Holtz Summer Colors on the CHEAP!

I FEEL like I've become a spokesperson for Blitsy lately!  I promise, I haven't!  They've just been running some incredible deals the past few weeks!  Today's deal won't let you down either!  They're offering the Tim Holtz Summer Distress Inks 3-pack for only $12.99!  That's one of the cheapest prices I've seen!!  This sale ends on 7/6/12.

And FYI, I just noticed Blitsy restocked the full set of Distress Markers.  This is the first time I've seen them restock something during their weekly!  You can get the entire set for $84.99, or individual markers for $2.49 each.  This deal expires on 7/4/12 and is only good while supplies last.

If you're interested, you can check both of these deals out HERE.

Jumping On The Chevron Bandwagon!

Happy Friday blogging buddies!!  We made it to the end of the week, and are at the start of another awesome weekend!  Woohoo!!

Okay, just a teensy bit of bragging about the beautiful subject of my sweet daughter, Emily!  This picture was taken the day she graduated with her B.A. in Women Studies from the University of Washington. And get this...She was only 20 years old!!  Can you say, "proudest mom EVER?!?!"

So, I made a layout of her in the gardens at the University on Graduation day.  All of the card stock came from DCWV's Glam Gal stack.  I heart that stack!!  There's LOTS of purple!  I even used parts of the front cover of the stack to make the two square embellishments in the top corners.

Now...on to the Chevrons!  I saw a video tip on My Craft Channel  on how to make Chevrons without die cutting.  It's just a few snips of the scissors and some careful folds.

Start with a 2 inch wide strip of paper, the length you want your Chevron to be.  I cut my strip 12 inches long so it would reach across the whole length of my layout.  On the back side of your paper, draw a line in the middle (at 1 inch) down the length of your paper.  Then, turn your ruler the other way, and make a mark at 1 inch, just going to the center lengthwise line.  (This is where the visual on the video came in handy for me.  Once you see it, it's super simple to understand.  The link above will take you there.)  Then, staying on the same side of the center line, mark every two inches.  Do the same thing on the other side of the center line, staggering the marks.  Below, is what your paper will look like when it's finished.

Next, carefully cut the small lines JUST TO THE long line in the center.

Once the small lines are cut, start folding the cut edges together to make little points.

Once you've finished one side of the cuts, turn the paper around and do the same thing on the other side.  After all the folds had been made, I went back over the creases with a bone folder.  It made a MUCH NICER edge.

When everything was folded and creased well, I put a drop of glue under each folded edge.  Zip Dry worked great for me.

At this point, I was doubting myself, but once I turned the strip over, it was a perfect chevron!!  Yay!  After I got over the initial math anxiety, these were pretty fun to be on the lookout for some future chevrons!

I hope you guys try some of these...they're awesome!  Have a FABULOUS weekend!

You Are Fabulous!

Hey bloggie peeps!!!  It's that time again...time for another Crafter's Companion Challenge!  Actually, I lie!  This month's challenge is almost over, but I really wanted to make sure I got in on it.  The theme for June is  Sunshine or Yellow.

I went to a crop yesterday with an awesome group of women.  I met new friends and we all had a blast.   And...we traded a few stamps, so thanks Rexann, for this ADORABLE Popcorn the Bear image!  The image is called Thanks a Bunch, and you can find it here.  I colored him with watercolor pencils, and I think he turned out fabulous!!

Father's Day Card (A Little Late!)

Hey Peeps!!  I'm a little late posting this, but I really wanted to show you the Father's Day card I made for my sweet hubs!  Once again, I used the new Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool I won, from their FABULOUS design team last month.  I'm having so much fun with it!  The tool itself is cool, but the DVD that comes with it is where I've REALLY learned so much from!  So, this book/card (technically, it's called a Star Card) has lots of angles to it, so get ready for pictures!!

Here's the front cover...I used the Father's Day Cricut cartridge (for all the cuts) and a sentiment.  All patterned papers are from the DCWV Downtown Loft Stack.

When you open the card, you start to see cute things dangling.  This card is actually a pop-out card...times 5!  (No, I'm not's 5 different pop-out cards, put together!)  Although, this isn't a Wii remote, hubby got the idea...we love to play Super Mario Bros!!

Hubs is borderline addicted to Pepsi...another one of his favorite things!

The Daddy loves his tv!

This is his cat Megan.  He's had her for about 16 years...longer than me!  Haha!  On the other side of this pic is a pic of our dogs (you can see part of the picture in the shot above.)

And this is our awesome kids!!  Definitely one of his favorite things!  On the back of this pic, is one of me and him :)

Here's a shot of the card partially open...

...and this is what the card looks like fully open.  You have 5 dangling pictures/items!  And from the top, it's shaped like a star (thus, the name.)

On the back of the card, I wrote my message and added a gift card envelope and a card to his favorite place to get garden goodies.  I used square eyelets and twine to secure the card and envelope.

Hubby loved his card and his Father's day!  Emily took him to race go-carts for his gift...he was SO EXCITED, since he's a car guy and loves anything fast!  Here he is with daughter and daughter's boyfriend...all of them acting usual!!!

I hope you all had a terrific Father's Day too!

And since I took the time to upload ALLLLLLLL those pictures, I may as well enter them in a few challenges!   Such as...

Where's WOYWW # 159

Hi gang!!  Welcome to What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday ...our weekly snoop at crafty desks all around the world!  I have to admit, that I cleaned up a little after my last project (it was a Father's Day card and I didn't want hubby to see anything!) so my work space isn't as bad as usual.  I almost didn't enter this week since there was nothing interesting going on, and it was so clean!  I remember months ago, not entering at first because it used to be so, how the tables have turned!!

I wanted to give a quick thanks to all of you last week who came back to look at my DCWV/May Arts project I had been working on for so long!  Your comments were SO SWEET and really meant a lot to me!!!  For those of you who are curious, I was really happy to make the top 10!

Don't forget, if you have the time, to hunt for the WOYWW badge/button in the pic...I made it easy for you guys this week ;)

My DCWV And May Arts Ribbon Project And A Giveaway!

FINALLY!!  I can show you what I've been working on the past few weeks!!

I made a super cool address book!  It's actually an address book that houses pictures, plus has a separate area for a Christmas card list, and a birthday list.  Here's a video I did explaining the features and giving a closer look...

The whole book is made from DCWV's Snapshot Stack, and 4 different kinds of May Arts Ribbon.

So here's some highlights:

The front cover of the book opens up and then folds out again to reveal a Christmas card list.  I put lots of pages in there so that it will work for years to come.  I also threw in a couple of Christmas pics for good measure!

The middle portion of the book is actually the address portion.  To give it a little more personality, I added pics of some of the people in my book.  This, of course, is my gorgeous daughter!!  I cut out "photo frames" from the stack to put throughout the pages and then place pictures on the frames.  I fussy cut out the talk bubbles on some of the pages, and that's where I'll put each person's name, address and phone number.

For people I don't have pics of, I just added in some extra tabs for their info

The back cover also folds out into a birthday list.  Each page has a month and each of the days on it...1-15 on the front and 16- the end of the month on the back.  So, since my son's birthday is November 20th, I would go to the November page and write his name on line 20, and add in the year of birth if I want to keep track of  his age (and trust me, the older he gets, the older I get, so I really don't want to keep track...haha!)

Behind the birthday list is a pocket to hold already made birthday cards I'll need to send out for the month.  I also put a pocket in the front of the book for Christmas cards.

Here's a few close ups...ribbon embellishment on the front cover

Built in bookmarkswith beads to give them weight. There are three for the Christmas list, one for the address book, and one for the birthday list.

I hope you like my address book as much as I do!  To go see all the projects, you can go to the DCWV blog to see the first half, and then the May Arts Ribbon Blog to see the other half.  The projects are all GORGEOUS, and it's really fun to see what 25 different people can make with the same supplies!

DCWV and May Arts are also having a Snapshot stack GIVEAWAY just for commenting!  Go check it out!!

Thanks for looking!

Where's WOYWW #158

Hi fellow WOYWWers!!!  I've missed you!  I've been absent for the last three weeks since I've been crazy busy working on a project for a contest with DCWV paper and May Arts Ribbon. I was one of 25 bloggers chosen to work with certain papers and ribbons.  Tomorrow, the 25 projects should all be posted, so I'll post mine on my blog as well.  The project is on my desk...can you see it???  Come back tomorrow if you're curious!  EDIT:  The project post is up if you're interested in taking a peek!

Also, if you're still playing along, don't forget to try to find the What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday badge in the pic...where could it be this week?!?!

Okay, I Lied!

In my last post, I mentioned that DCWV and May Arts Ribbon would be posting the projects from the Summer Craft Challenge.  Well poor Erin from DCWV had surgery a few days ago, so they pushed back the post until Wednesday.  So check back on Wednesday to see the super secret project!!

In the mean time, here's a "pretty" I made.  Me and hubby celebrated the 10th anniversary of our first date last week.  This was the card I made him:

"Forever & Always" is kind of our thing, so I wanted it on the front of the card.  I used the Fancy Frames and Paper Lace Cricut cartridges, and the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder for the front parts of the card.

Here's what you see as you open the card...hanging hearts!

This is what you see when the card is all the way opened!  I really love the way this came out!  I used the Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool that I won last month...LOVE IT!!!

This pic gives you an idea of the build of the card.  It's called a double pop out card.

I'm really happy with how it came out.  The CC Ultimate Tool came with a DVD that shows all kinds of cool cards, and how to make them step by step.  With their instruction, this card was actually easy to make!  Yay!

Have a great day and I'll check in tomorrow!

Ummm...yeah.  Well at least I got to build up my Stickles collection!!

Are You Sick Of Me Yet?

Last post tonight...I promise!

Here's my final card for the day from the Mickey and Friend's cartridge.  I love the way this one came out!  It's bright and cheery!  As I'm looking at the pic of it now, I see lots of other stuff I want to go back and do with it...but for now, here it is!

I'm also entering this into K, Andrew's Simply Sunday challenge.

Feast or Famine

...has absolutely nothing to do with my blog post, other than the fact that I don't post for weeks, and now you're going to get three in a row!  Coincidentally, that's the exact same number of cards I made today!

Here's Mickey Mouse card #2.  Same recipe as the card I just posted, but with some ribbon, embossing and a cute little twist.  Mickey's hand is on an action wobble so he actually waves at you!!  (Totally AJ's idea btw!)  It is SO cute when it's moving!

I'm entering this card in K. Andrew's Simply Sunday Challenge!

Better Now

Hey blog buddies!!!  Sorry for my absence.  I have a really messed up neck that has been giving me extra trouble lately, so very little computer time and *GASP* no crafting!  Well I was doing better today, so I made up for it...I'm gonna pay for it tonight though!

So last week I FINALLY got the Mickey and Friends cartridge! Woohoo!  I've been wanting it for a while, but I wasn't seeing it in the stores anymore, so I found it at a great price on  Since I haven't been able to craft, I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet, but I fully intend to this week!!  The sentiment is directly printed on my cardstock with a free Disney font I found a long time ago online.  If you're interested in finding out more about it, let me know and I'll do a little research to see if it's still around.

I'm linking this card up to K. Andrew's Simply Sunday Challenge.  Thanks AJ, for letting me know about it (and for crafting with me today!)
