A Challenge!

This cute little guy is my last offering this month for the Crafter's Companion Challenge Blog.  This is Mr. Popcorn the Bear from the Someone Special Stamp Set.    I'm in love with this cutie!  I colored him with Bic Mark-Its using a technique I learned on the Crafter's Companion Challenge blog from guest designer Jennifer Dove.  HERE'S a link to her tutorial showing how to make Mr's Bear look fluffy!

Have a great DAY!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday? #165

For my GIVEAWAY (open world wide)  and super special post, click HERE

Happy Wednesday world!!  Welcome to a very special edition (in my little blog at least) of WOYWW.  I hope those of you in England are holding up okay since it looks like the whole entire world is at your doorstep for the next couple of weeks!

So, two matters of business:  #1; Welcome to my new blog redesign!  I'm so super excited about it!  My fabulous daughter-in-law did if for me.  I also have some easy buttons to the right if you would like to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, StumbleUpon and YouTube.  To learn more about it, a giveaway, and a super special campaign, see the post below this one.  I would love for you to take a peek.

#2;  Today, you get four desks for the price of one!  I'm at a crop all day, and instead of taking a pic of my desk at home, I waited for the crop!  So above, is my messy as usual work space.  I have three cards to work on this evening, two for the Crafters Companion US challenge blog and a third for The Great British Blog Hop that's happening on Wednesday and Thursday.  I will be featured on Thursday.  I'm not British, so I hope I can do a card justice!

Here is Sarah's work space.  She's working on wedding thank you cards as a gift for a friend of hers.

Here's our hostess, Becky's work space.  She's learning the art of quilling and has lots of fun goodies in her spot.

Here's Rexann's work space.  She's making guy cards today.  They're turning out super cute!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at our little corner of the world.  Happy Wednesday!

And Happy Scrapping! ~Amy E

A Giveaway, A New Blog Design, And A New Campaign!

EDIT"  Rafflecopter was being a bit weird, so I added additional ways to enter if it doesn't show up for you.    Please see below for new ways to enter the giveaway!

Hi Readers!  Welcome to my grand re-opening and an exciting new CAMPAIGN I'm starting!  I'm SUPER excited to introduce you to my beautifully new, super-efficient blog design.  Let me take you on a little tour of some of the new features.

On your right, you'll see that the little scissors have been replaced by sleek new banners, and some new pages have been added.  If a page doesn't have a lot of content yet, don't you worry...I'll be adding lots soon!  You'll also notice some cute new social media buttons have been added.  What does this mean?  It means I'M ON TWITTER...heaven help me!  I'm just learning, so bear with me!  It also means you can find me tons of other places too.  Just click a button and see what happens.

You'll also find a search bar so you can search for anything you want within the blog. There's a new email subscription option, an easier way to follow Scrap This Save That on Facebook and a sexy new button that you're more than welcome to post on your blog if you would like!

Now, let me tell you a little bit about my super talented blog designer, Erin.  First and foremost, she's my beautiful and successful daughter-in-law.  She JUST earned her MBA and I couldn't possibly be prouder of her!!  In her spare time (she has spare time?) she loves to cook , blog, craft, and DESIGN BLOGS!

Her main blog (which she also designed) is http://mrsslay.blogspot.com A crafty, money-saving lifestyle blog.

She's also designed: http://fitbytwitter.blogspot.com/  A health blog, and

http://domesticdaredevils.blogspot.com/  a foodie blog with GREAT recipes that she contributes to.

Erin mainly works with Blogger blogs but has done some Wordpress as well.  Here's a header she made for a Wordpress blog:  http://laurenabell.wordpress.com/

Erin has decided to offer her mad blog designing skillz to the bloggie world, and she's starting here...in my little corner of the internet!  Here's a list of her current services and prices:

* blog header $30
* button $20
* favicon $5
* set of all three (header, button, favicon) $50
* willing to discuss other options.

Since Erin starts from scratch and only does custom work (instead of copying things from other sites) you will always have something fresh and original from her.  If you're interested in what Erin is offering  (or know someone who is,) you can email her at  (erinlslay@gmail.com) and let her know what you might be looking for.   If you're not completely sure, she can always browse your blog for ideas, too.  And because she is SO TALENTED, I'll just say it in advance...you're welcome.

And THAT, dear readers, leads us to the info on the new campaign I mentioned earlier.  Introducing ....

The Make Me a Grandmother Campaign!

Here's Erin in her own words...
"We are pursuing adoption because it's God's call for our lives, and we have discovered that I cannot give birth to a baby due to health conditions.  It will cost about $20,000 or more to adopt.  We are putting all of our extra money towards it, but we can't do it alone.  We are asking for donations, and I'm offering this [blog design] service to raise money."

So, there you have it.  If you decide to choose to hire Erin to help you with your blog, EVERY PENNY you spend will go towards helping to MAKE ME A GRANDMA!!!   How cool is that?!?   If you're happy with your blog already but would like to find another way to help, she has a DONATE button on her bloghttp://mrsslay.blogspot.com/

I would also like to invite you to check out Erin's blog , and if you like what you see, consider becoming a follower.  The majority of her posts focus on money saving tips (to save money for the adoption, i.e., MY NEW  GRANDBABY!) and crafting posts on everything from wall art, to decorating the new nursery.  And folks, let me tell you...this woman can decorate!!

And now, your reward for reading this far... A giveaway!  Erin is offering one of our lucky readers their choice of either a custom made header OR a new blog button for their blog! And I'm throwing in a $25 gift card to Michaels!  Please use the Rafflecopter to enter below.

Anniversary Explosion Box

Happy Thursday gang!  I wanted to show you a few picks of my first-ever explosion box. I'm not sure why I was ever so intimidated by them...it was fun! My daughter wanted to make a special card for her boyfriend to commemorate the first anniversary of the day they met.  The idea was her brainchild and she assembled most of the Cricut cuts.  I just made the box and handled the logistics!  I really liked the way it turned out, and now it has my creative juices flowing for future boxes with different shapes and pop-up goodies.

This is what the box looks like when it's "exploded."  Emily used the theme, "A trip down memory lane" and each section represented a milestone in their first year together; the day they met, their first date, their first trip together, and their first home.

When the box is fully opened, you can get peeks and hints about what's behind each category.  She used the heart in the center to write her personal message to him.

The word, ADWAS, shown in the picture above (just in case you're wondering) is the name of the agency Emily works for (and it's where her and her boyfriend met.) It's the acronym for the Abused Deaf Women's Advocacy Services.  Here's a post I wrote about her and the agency last year.

Happy Thursday!!!

Where's WOYWW #164

Welcome to installment #164 of What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, where all of us stalkers crafty folk go and take a peek at what's happening on each other's desks.  Today, my desk was relatively clean since I reorganized last week.  I needed to make a card though, so I took pics afterwards.  How do you make THIS MUCH MESS from just one simple card???

If your still looking for the WOYWW badge/button every week, I left it in the same place as last week (nobody guessed it right, so why not?) and took a pic that would make it a little simpler to find.  If you need a hint: you can only see it in the second pic.

Happy Wednesday!

Where'e WOYWW? #163

Happy Wednesday!  Welcome to the 163rd edition of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Time to take a break and snoop around at other people's desks all over the world!  My theme today?  Reorganization!  My once beautiful, clean. pristine craft room has been experiencing some growing pains lately...i.e., I'm running out of room!  I don't think it's necessary to purge anything at this point, since I love and use everything I have, but it's definitely time to move some things around, clean off the stuff that lives on my desk, and have a big work space with lots of elbow room again!  Once my mission has been accomplished, I plan to do a video tour of my room!  Stay tuned!

For those of you who still like to look for the WOYWW badge/button in the picture each week, it's in there...but GOOD LUCK!! You can click on the picture to make it bigger, if that helps.  Extra brownie  points and my undying amazement for anyone who can find it this week!

Is It A Purse...Or a Birthday Card?

Or is is both!?   I used my Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool to make this charming little blue with green polka dot card, shaped like a purse for my lovely daughter's birthday last week.  Since Emily is such a fashionista, the card was a huge hit!

Here's a close-up of the flap of the "purse."  I made the flowers out of Ric Rac using tutorials I found on Pinterest...there's tons of them out there!

One thing I learned in the process, is that not all ric rac is created equal!  The yellow, shown above, was some REALLY old ric rac I got at Goodwill.  I'm sure it was old because the price was printed on the packaging, and was only 15 cents for the package!  When was the last time you could buy anything crafty for 15 cents?    The ric rac was softer and more "material" feeling.  Then the green was some I got on a killer deal at Costco a few months ago.  It was much more stiff and felt more like nylon.  I wasn't able to "braid" the green ric rac like the instructions called for, so I was only able to make small rosettes out if it.  I'm still super happy with how everything came out as a whole!

On an even closer look, you can see another angle of the flowers, and more detail.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the edging, and some tiny Imaginesce heat activated bling for a touch of sparkle.

The card opens just like a purse!

...and inside is where you can leave your message.

I stamped a piece of blue cardstock with some adorable cupcake stamps and Versamark ink to give the paper a watermarked look.  Then I printed a birthday itinerary with a list of some of the surprises in store for the birthday girl that day!  I folded and tacked down the paper so that it would lay flat when the purse is closed, and pop open when it's time to see the inside!

You should really give this little cutie a try!  Let me know if you do!

Happy Birthday, and Coming Soon!

Question:  What do you get when you combine all your hopes and dreams, mixed with love and kindness, and then nurture daily?

Answer:  The perfect daughter!   HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILY!!!

Okay...enough gushing!  Onto business.  I just wanted to let all of you know that even though the posts have been a little light lately, it's only because something great is coming soon.   I've been doing TONS of research  and learning lately, and think I have come up with ideas for even MORE GOODIES for your reading pleasure.  More money saving tips, more projects, more tutorials, more videos, more of everything.  Thanks for sticking with me, and stay tuned!

A Massive HUGE Thank You!!

YAY!!!  After posting on here and pestering many of you relentlessly on Facebook, my craft room won the Create For Less Craft Room Makeover Contest!  I'm SUPER excited!  I've been so proud of my blue and silver, industrial style "happy place" since it was created.  (Click here for the original post.)  Not only is it a dream craft room for me, but it's a testament to being able to have something you really want, without having to spend money...or very much of it, at least.  Between bartering, and winning gift cards on a few online instant sweepstakes, (more on that in future posts!) the room didn't cost us anything out of pocket.  Since we have a few obstacles to deal with, that's the only way it was going to happen.

So THANK YOU for your votes and your support!!  Oh wow...I just sounded like a politician right there, didn't I?

Crafter's Companion Challenge...Anything Goes!

Happy July gang!!  I can't believe this year is officially half way over.  What happened?  It was January, I blinked my eyes, and now it's July!!!  It's going to be Christmas before you know it!

So, the Crafter's Companion Challenge Blog just posted a new challenge for the month of July.  This month the theme is, Anything Goes.  Yay!!  That's an easy on for me!!!  So here's my first entry...

I used the Popcorn the Bear Birthday Hugs stamp.  I am so in love with little Popcorn!   And of course  Humphrey too!!!  I'm glad I don't have to pick a favorite...that would be a toss-up!  Anyway, I used watercolor pencils and a water pen to color this cutie, and then just mounted him on some papers and cardstock from my stash.  I used a white Gelly roll pen for a few highlights, and viola!  I love him!
