Happy Sunday! Sorry for all the dead air here the last few days. I was in a little funk after my son went back home to Texas from his awesome visit last weekend, but I finally got back into my craft room to play yesterday! I knew I wanted to do a card for this month's Crafter's Companion Challenge (stripes and/or dots) and I knew I wanted to try something a little different, so above, you'll see the result of both!
When I've colored stamps in the past, using my watercolor pencils, I've noticed that I will usually go back over the original black lines of the stamp once I'm finished coloring. The color in the pencils seem to dull the black of the ink. So this time, I tried something new. I heat embossed my stamp in black embossing powder before I started coloring. I was concerned about getting the pencils down in some of the tiny groves (since heat embossing raises the lines of your picture) but once I put water pen to paper, the color washed into all those grooves perfectly! The result (though hard to see in the photo) is clean dark black lines with a beautiful shine to them!
I used Martha Stewart black embossing power and the totally cute Popcorn the Bear Bunches of Love stamp set for the picture, and Popcorn the Bear Someone Special set for the sentiment.
Happy Scrapping! ~Amy E
