Money-Saving Monday #14

Happy Monday morning to you and welcome to another edition of Money-Saving Monday!  Since the holiday shopping season has begun for many of us, I thought I would try to incorporate it into this week's tip.  I did my share of Black Friday shopping last week and picked up a few presents.  Several of the items were relatively small and odd-shaped, and needed a box.  What to do?  Turn to your scrap supplies, of course!

I have some DCWV Christmas and Winter stacks I bought last year and decided to use some of the cardstock in them to make some boxes to fit my presents.  Above, you'll see two green boxes, and two blue ones.  I used plain black cardstock for the bottoms of each box.

I used my Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool to make the box tops and bottoms, although you could use any scoreboard or even do it by hand.  I plan on wrapping a ribbon around these little cuties, finishing off with a bow, and voila...done!

Now, I realize you can go to most any discount store and buy boxes, but just think of it this way; I'm using cardstock I may not otherwise use for a layout or card,  and I'm saving money by not buying boxes.  Saving money on gift boxes = more $$$ for scrapbooking supplies!!  It's a win/win all the way around!!

If you have any money-saving tips or tricks you would like to share, please email me using my contact page.  Your tip and blog may be featured on a future edition of Money-Saving Monday!

Happy Scrapping! ~Amy E

I'm with you! Why buy it if you can just make it and get to choose the way it looks! Heck, you can even make it match the gift! Great idea. That Ultimate Cardmaking companion thingy is on my Christmas Wish list this year!
