Happy Sunday evening to you! I hope you all had a great weekend, and all of you in the US had a fabulous Thanksgiving! I think I've fixed my Blogger/Picasa/pictures issue for now...or at least put a band-aid on it. (See the post below this one if you have no idea what I'm talking about.) It's probably going to take me a month or more to fix it the way it needs to be fixed..at least the way I figured out how to do it. I'm manually re-sizing each picture I EVER posted on Blogger, and then taking off the old larger pics and replacing each with the smaller pics...post....by.......post........ I think I currently have 252 posts to do that with. I'm going to be a busy girl. The moral of this story? Make your photos small before you publish them to Blogger.
Okay, as I've been blathering on about for weeks, some friends of mine opened a comic book store in our local mall. These are all people the same age as my "kids" so I'm incredibly proud of them in a very motherly way!! I wanted to do something nice for them, so I made them a card and a grand opening banner. In the pic above, you'll see what the mall entrance to their store looks like. Can you spot Spiderman being sneaky??? I made the banner that's hanging below the words, "comics & coffee."
Below is a closer view of the banner. It was a little longer than it should have been, so we cinched it up in the middle. Although it's hard to see from this view, the banner is made from a bunch of little Superman capes strung together. Each cape has the little "S" logo and a letter done in the same font as their store sign and logo.
Next is a Superman card I made congratulating them on their opening.
I asked if there was any vinyl for the walls or anything like that I could help with, and they told me they needed signage for the shelves, showing where each type of comic is. This is where I REALLY must tell you how much I completely ADORE my new Silhouette Cameo!! I had SO MUCH FUN playing around with it and making all the signs you see below. I was able to import and use my own fonts for the lettering, and I bought one image (the "pow bubble" behind the letters) for 99 cents at the Silhouette store and used it over and over in different colors. I LOVE that machine! It cuts like a dream!!
Here are the front and back sides of the DC Comics sign. I used the same 5 colors, but just moved them around
I did the same thing with the sign for their independent comic book shelf.
Marvel only had one side since it is hanging on the wall, and Vertigo was the same on both sides since I was emulating (loosely!) their logo.
Here's a view from the back of the grand opening sign as you're walking out the store. It says, "See Ya Soon!" The two little green things on the end are supposed to be Kryptonite, but once they were hung up, I thought they looked more like pics of marijuana leaves!!! They crew loved them though and totally got that they were Kryptonite!!
Happy Scrapping! ~Amy E
