First Day Of Kindergarten!

Woot woot!  We made it over hump day and I can see the weekend fast approaching!  YES!  Until then, it's time for another Scrapbook Challenge at Mark's Finest Paper's MFP Speedy TV.   Since summer is over and it's time to hit the books again, we're doing a Back to School Challenge.  This week, use three things that start with the letter "R" in your layout.

Remember this challenge is strictly scrapbook layouts, no cards please.  You have to use stamps on your pages. They don't have to be Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co stamps but if you do use them you will be entered twice for a chance to win.  This week's stamp hasn't been announced yet, at the time of this writing, but I'll let you know what it is when I find out.  I'm sure it's going to be awesome!

I had to take a step or two down memory lane for this challenge since my kids are grown adults.  I dug deep and found some photos from September of 1987 when my son started his first day of kindergarten.  HOLY MOLY, that was 26 years ago!!!  Where in the world has the time gone?  Just don't blink, or you'll miss it!

My son is the oldest of my bunch, so his first day of school was particularly traumatic for me!  Of course, he was excited and made it through the whole day like a champ, but I thought I would lose my mind watching him get on that bus the first time.  As a matter of fact, after he got on the bus, I jumped in my car and followed him to school to make sure he made it okay!  And then I walked him to class.  He just REALLY wanted to take the big school bus that first day!

We captured pics of all the kids walking to the bus stop, the bus coming around the corner, and then all the kids running like crazy to get to the stop before the bus did!!!  My sweet little baby lined up with his fellow kindergartners and waited his turn. Once he was on, I walked back to the house crying my eyes out.  You can barely see me in the last bus photo with my head down.  I'm such a sap!  And of course, when he came home that afternoon, I cried all over again.  I missed my boy.

Okay...the technical stuff!  For this layout, I used another page kit from the garage sale I talked about last week.  This was actually a page kit for toddler pics, but it worked perfectly for my needs.  I inked up some chipboard pieces that came in the kit with some Quick Quotes chalking ink that matched the tones of my pages.  For the sentiments, I chose three of them from the Mark's Finest paper stamp set, Be A Showoff.  This is the cute little set that came out a few months ago that have the gorgeous Peacocks in it.

Oh, and btw...my three "R's" for this week are ruler, red and ribbon!  Have a spectacular weekend and I will see you soon!

Happy Scrapping! ~Amy E
