Orange and Turquoise Color Challenge

Sooo...last weekend I was making tons of different prototypes for my daughter's wedding invitations.  I had round cards and square cards and gate fold cards and paper flying everywhere!  Once she decided on a style and the cardstock flurry settled, I was left with lots of scraps and card bases.  One of them was this square orange gate fold card. Although orange isn't one of her wedding colors, I was using so much cardstock I started grabbing colors I didn't think I would use for anything else.  And then, BOOM...the color challenge called for turquoise and orange this week!  Perfect!

Head on over to MFP Speedy TV for more info on our color challenge this week.  You have the opportunity to win an awesome stamp!

I started with a card base I had already made that is a 6 inch square gate fold card.  I used some chalking ink from Quick Quotes in Mango Mai Tai to stamp flowers on the cardstock from Mark's Finest Paper's Huge Blooms stamp set, I love doing tone-on-tone stamping.  It makes some gorgeous background papers.  It's a technique I use often.  You can see some other examples of it HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.  I told you...I REALLY like that technique!  Ha ha!

I used a different image from the same stamp set to make a huge flower on the turquoise cardstock using VersaMark ink.  Then I embossed the image in some shiny silver powder.  Although my lighting in the photos doesn't really show it, the sparkle is awesome!  I matted the image on white cardstock and then adhered half of it on the left side of the card, leaving the other side free to open.  I added more turquoise and white to the inside of the card along with my sentiment from the same stamp set.  Voila!

I hope you'll join us for the challenge this week!  You have until next Wednesday at 5 pm PST to link up.  See you there!!

Happy Scrapping! ~Amy E
