I've never thought I was very good at making cards with the Oriental line of stamps at Mark's Finest Papers, but I have to admit, I really like the way this one turned out!!
This week over at MFP Speedy TV, the Color Challenge is to use Yellow, Green and Orange. Now before you scratch your head while looking at my card, let me explain that the lighting was awful when I took the pic of it, so what looks like cream is actually yellow, and what looks like red is actually a dark orange. I followed the guidelines this week...I promise!!
I tried a new technique when making this card. Actually, old techniques, but a new combination of them! I started by stamping assorted lanterns from the Mark's Finest Paper's Lanterns stamp set onto my base cardstock. Then I stamped the same lanterns onto assorted scraps of patterned paper. This is a GREAT way to use up some of your smaller scraps! I fussy-cut each of the patterned images (just the round part of the lantern, not the fringe) and then matched each piece up with it's corresponding mate that was on the card base. I glued them in place making sure everything lined up correctly. Then I added the sentiment (which I love!) and matted with some of the same scraps I used for the lanterns.
I hope you'll consider joining us this week for the color challenge. As always, you have a change at winning an awesome stamp! You have until next Wednesday at 5 pm (PST) to link up. See you soon!
Happy Scrapping! ~Amy E
